OneOdio Pro-10 3.5 mm vs 6.35 mm Cable
Choose the right OneOdio Pro-10 cable for computers, phones, audio interfaces, amplifiers, gaming, microphone use, and longer listening setups.
Product details come from product listings unless we clearly label another source.
The short answer
Use the 1.2 m 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable when your source has a compatible 3.5 mm socket and you want the inline microphone and controls. Use the 2 to 3 m coiled cable when you need a 6.35 mm connection, more reach, or a cable that can connect a 3.5 mm source to the 6.35 mm earcup socket and vice versa.
The choice is about socket fit, cable length, and microphone need. It is not an audio-quality upgrade. OneOdio does not claim that the 6.35 mm plug sounds better than the 3.5 mm plug on the Pro-10.
This guide is for creators connecting the OneOdio Pro-10 to a computer, phone, portable gaming device, console controller, audio interface, headphone amplifier, or other music equipment. It explains which supplied cable fits each job, how the two earcup sockets work, and what to check before buying a replacement.
Compare the two supplied cables
The official OneOdio Pro-10 product page lists two detachable cables. The shorter cable has 3.5 mm plugs at both ends and an inline microphone. The coiled cable has a 3.5 mm plug at one end and a 6.35 mm plug at the other.
| Decision | 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable | 3.5 mm to 6.35 mm coiled cable |
|---|---|---|
| Published length | 1.2 m | 2 to 3 m when extended |
| Inline microphone | Yes | No microphone is shown or specified |
| Inline controls | Play or pause, call, and mute controls are shown in the manual | None shown |
| Typical source connection | 3.5 mm computer, portable device, or compatible gaming connection | 6.35 mm amplifier or music equipment output, or a 3.5 mm source when the cable is reversed |
| Best fit | Calls, chat, shorter desk setups, and portable sources | Studio desks, instruments, amplifiers, audio gear, and setups that need more reach |
| Separate adapter needed | No, if both sockets accept 3.5 mm | No, if the source accepts either supplied plug size |
These are connection differences, not performance rankings. The Pro-10 manual shows the short cable with a microphone and the coiled cable with both plug sizes, but it does not assign better sound to either one.
Use the 3.5 mm cable when you need the microphone
The short cable is the practical choice for a voice call, game chat, or computer meeting because it is the supplied cable with an inline microphone. OneOdio’s manual labels the microphone and shows controls for play or pause, calls, and mute on this 1.2 m cable (Pro-10 manual).
That does not guarantee microphone support from every 3.5 mm socket. The destination must accept a headset-style audio and microphone connection. A headphone-only output can send sound to the Pro-10 while providing no microphone input. If the microphone is important, check the computer, controller, phone adapter, or other destination documentation for headset microphone support.
This distinction matters on desktop computers. Some machines provide one combined headset socket, while another setup may separate headphone output and microphone input. The Pro-10 cable cannot make an incompatible output accept microphone audio. A suitable splitter or audio adapter may be required when the destination uses separate connections.
The shorter cable can also be easier to manage at a laptop or controller. There is less cable on the floor, and the straight lead does not pull back like a coiled cable. That is a fit advantage, not a universal recommendation. A 1.2 m cable can be too short if the computer sits under a desk or the listener needs to move around while recording.
Use the coiled cable for 6.35 mm equipment or longer reach
The coiled cable is intended for connections where either the source or the chosen Pro-10 earcup uses the larger 6.35 mm socket. OneOdio specifies it as a 2 to 3 m cable with a 3.5 mm plug and a 6.35 mm plug (Pro-10 product page).
The official manual shows the 3.5 mm end with computers and portable devices, and it shows the 6.35 mm end with amplifiers and music equipment. That makes the mixed-size cable useful for creator gear such as an audio interface or headphone amplifier with a 6.35 mm headphone output.
The extra reach is useful when the source is not directly beside the listener. A podcaster might connect to an interface across a desk. A musician might need space between an amplifier and a seated monitoring position. The coiled section keeps some unused length gathered, although the exact amount of pull and usable reach depends on placement.
This cable does not include the inline microphone shown on the short 3.5 mm cable. If you connect the Pro-10 to an audio interface for monitoring, that is usually fine because the creator’s recording microphone connects separately to the interface. For gaming chat or a call, losing the inline microphone may be the deciding limitation.
The mixed-size cable works in either direction
A useful Pro-10 detail is that the coiled cable is not limited to one orientation. The manual illustrates both of these connections:
- Put the 6.35 mm plug into the headphones, then connect the 3.5 mm plug to the source.
- Put the 3.5 mm plug into the headphones, then connect the 6.35 mm plug to the source.
Both arrangements appear in the manufacturer’s Pro-10 manual. This is why the headphones can connect to either a small 3.5 mm source or larger 6.35 mm equipment without a separate plug adapter, provided the source has one of those compatible headphone outputs.
Do not choose the direction by assuming one earcup has a better signal path. OneOdio documents both cable directions as valid. Choose the orientation that matches the source socket and places the correct plug at each end.
Push each plug fully into its socket. A partially inserted plug can cause a missing channel, intermittent sound, or silence. If the sound cuts out after changing cable direction, disconnect both ends and reseat them before assuming the cable or headphones have failed.
Choose by source, not by plug size alone
Start at the device producing the headphone signal. Find its headphone output and confirm the socket size. Then choose the cable that reaches it without adding an unnecessary adapter.
Computer or laptop
Use the 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable when the computer has a compatible 3.5 mm headset connection and you need the inline microphone. The Pro-10 manual specifically illustrates computer use with the smaller plug (Pro-10 manual).
If the computer’s 3.5 mm socket is output-only, the headphones can still receive audio, but the inline microphone needs another compatible input path. A USB audio adapter may solve that problem, but its headset support should be verified before purchase.
Phone or tablet
A phone or tablet with a compatible 3.5 mm headset socket can use the short cable directly. Devices without that socket need an adapter that fits the device and supports the functions you need. Do not assume that every USB-C or Lightning adapter passes microphone input merely because it plays headphone audio.
The coiled cable can also carry listening audio from a 3.5 mm source when its 6.35 mm end is connected to the Pro-10. Choose it only when the extra length helps and you do not need the inline microphone.
Console controller or portable gaming device
The OneOdio manual illustrates the microphone cable with portable gaming devices and consoles (Pro-10 manual). Treat those icons as setup examples rather than a promise for every model. Confirm that the exact controller or device has a compatible headset socket and supports microphone input through it.
For solo gameplay without chat, either cable can work when the plug fits. For voice chat, use the microphone cable and verify that the game or console input setting detects it.
Audio interface, mixer, or headphone amplifier
Many creator audio devices use a 6.35 mm headphone output. Connect the coiled cable’s 6.35 mm plug to that output and its 3.5 mm plug to the corresponding Pro-10 earcup. The manual identifies the larger plug for amplifiers and music equipment (Pro-10 manual).
Use the device’s headphone output, not an arbitrary line output. Also turn the headphone level down before connecting, start playback, and raise the level gradually. Cable size does not set a safe listening volume.
Neither plug size changes the published headphone specifications
The Pro-10 remains the same headphone whichever supplied cable you use. OneOdio publishes a 32 ohm impedance, 50 mm drivers, sensitivity of 110 dB plus or minus 3 dB, and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz on the official product page.
Those specifications are not separate ratings for the 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm connections. The manufacturer does not publish one frequency response for the short cable and another for the coiled cable. A larger connector is physically different, but connector diameter alone is not evidence of a sound-quality improvement.
If two setups sound different, compare more than the cable. They may use different source devices, headphone amplifiers, volume settings, software processing, or output configurations. Match the playback level and source before blaming the plug size.
Use the unused earcup socket for audio sharing
The Pro-10 has both 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm earcup sockets. In addition to accepting either direction of the coiled cable, OneOdio describes a sharing function that uses the unoccupied socket to connect another pair of headphones (Pro-10 product page). The manual also includes a share-port diagram with a second headphone connected to the unused earcup socket.
This can be convenient when a second person needs to hear the same playback. For example, a creator and guest could review a recorded clip without moving the source cable between headphones.
Treat sharing as one program feed, not as an independent monitoring system. The second listener does not receive a separate mix from the Pro-10, and the earcup does not add a dedicated volume control for that person. For a recording session where several people need reliable, independently adjustable headphone levels, a powered headphone distribution amplifier is the clearer tool.
Check three details before buying a replacement cable
The original cables are detachable, so a damaged or misplaced lead can be replaced. OneOdio sells an official 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm spring cable compatible with the Pro-10 and a dedicated Pro-10 3.5 mm replacement cable.
Before ordering, check:
- Source connector: Confirm whether the device provides a 3.5 mm or 6.35 mm headphone output.
- Microphone need: Choose a cable explicitly documented with microphone support if calls, chat, or voice input matter.
- Model compatibility: Look for explicit Pro-10 compatibility rather than assuming any cable with the same visible plug size will fit and provide the same controls.
The official replacement pages are useful for compatibility, but the coiled-cable page contains unrelated product boilerplate. Use the Pro-10 product page and manual for the headphone’s specifications and supplied-cable details rather than copying unrelated specifications from a replacement listing.
Troubleshoot the connection before replacing anything
Audio plays, but the inline microphone does not work
Confirm that you are using the short 3.5 mm cable with the microphone module. Then check whether the source socket supports microphone input. Select the headset microphone in the operating system, call app, game, or recording software if an input choice is available.
Audio is present on only one side
Remove and firmly reconnect both cable ends. Test the other supplied cable with the same source when possible. This helps separate a loose connection from a cable problem or a source configuration issue.
The 6.35 mm plug does not fit the computer
Reverse the mixed-size cable. Put its 6.35 mm end into the Pro-10 and its 3.5 mm end into the computer. OneOdio documents that orientation in the Pro-10 manual.
The cable is too short or pulls on the source
Use the 2 to 3 m coiled cable if microphone input is not required. If the short microphone cable is essential, move the source closer or choose a verified compatible replacement with the required reach and microphone wiring. Avoid placing tension on either earcup socket.
Which Pro-10 cable should you use?
Choose the 1.2 m 3.5 mm cable for a compatible computer, phone, controller, or portable device when you need the inline microphone or prefer a shorter straight lead. Choose the 2 to 3 m coiled cable for a 6.35 mm headphone output, a longer desk or studio connection, or a 3.5 mm listening source where the microphone is unnecessary.
There is no documented sound-quality winner. Match the plug to the source, confirm microphone support, and choose enough length to work without straining the socket. The Pro-10’s two earcup connections make both supplied cable orientations useful, but they solve different setup problems.

If several people need to monitor the same recording setup, the guide to connecting multiple headphones to an audio interface explains when sharing one signal is enough and when a headphone distribution amplifier is the better choice.
