Start with the kind of footage you need

These three cameras handle movement, framing, and lenses differently. Decide whether you need a small stabilized camera, 360 degree recording, or interchangeable lenses before comparing individual specifications.

Compare movement and framing

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 listing includes video capture up to 4K at 120 frames per second, three axis mechanical stabilization, and ActiveTrack 6.0. Its rotating two inch touchscreen supports horizontal and vertical framing.

The Insta360 X5 listing includes 360 degree capture up to 8K at 30 frames per second. It also lists FlowState stabilization, full 360 degree horizon lock, replaceable lenses, and a built-in wind guard.

Check whether you need interchangeable lenses

The Sony a5100 listing includes a 24MP APS-C sensor, 179 autofocus points, Sony E-mount lens compatibility, and Full HD video recording. Unlike the two compact cameras above, it accepts interchangeable lenses.

Before choosing, check the recording format, stabilization, screen position, lens needs, connections, and mounting options required by your setup.
